Project objective: To create two whiteboard animations presenting the project “Carte proximité” in 2 minutes: one animation for the Carte Proximité website and one for the La Ruche Montréal website.
Creative process: Marie-Claude Morin Ouellet wrote the original script for the animations and I reviewed and optimized them for the creation of whiteboard animations. Once the scripts were approved, I started sketching the drawings based on the narration and packaged them all into a storyboard for review. After a couple of rounds of feedback and modifications, the illustrations were approved. I then recorded the drawings in video footage by drawing them all over again while recording myself with a screen recording software (see the video explaining how I create my whiteboard animations for more details). Finally, I accelerated the drawings, synchronized them with the voice-over (recorded by Isabelle Plante), added some motion graphics with Motion 5 to enhance the visuals and help with comprehension. I edited the final animations in Final Cut Pro X including background music “Mr Sunny Face” by Wayne Jones from the YouTube audio library.
More about Carte Proximité: Carte Proximité is a project designed to foster local economy and short food supply chain (i.e. only one intermediary between producers and consumers) in the greater Montreal area. The card is also a form of payment that can be used to purchase produce at the markets participating in the program. Disadvantaged people and families will receive free cards on which a dollar amount will be deposited every month so they too can access local produce and support the local economy.
