Mongolia: pastels

By September 4, 2012September 7th, 2017Painting / Sketching

Mongolia is probably in the top 3 of the countries I would like to visit (after Nepal and New Zealand). In october 2011, the National Geographic published an article on the capital of Mongolia: Ulaanbaatar. I loved one of the photos coming with the article so much that I pinned it of the wall in my office. This image illustrates the fact that Mongolia is the most sparsely populated country in the world and you can see it here (by Mark Leong). After a few months looking at this photo torn in the middle, I decided that I would be nice to have it bigger and in one piece so I used it to inspire this pastel piece (size: 18×24 inches).
